Industrial Roof Ventilation
Ridge Vent Systems

A roof ventilation ridge vent is installed along the apex of an industrial or commercial roof to continuously exhaust hot air, humidity and pollutants — harnessing the natural stack effect (warm air rises) without mechanical energy.

Installed at the highest point of the building, ridge vents create a permanent, maintenance-free ventilation path that significantly reduces internal temperatures, prevents condensation and improves air quality for workers and equipment below.

Geometric Steels manufactures four ridge vent profiles, each optimised for specific roof types, building widths and ventilation rate requirements

All are fabricated from high-quality corrosion-resistant materials and designed to perform in Indian industrial conditions.

Product Profile Type Best Application Ventilation Application
Hat Top Airflow Ridge VentHat-profile cap over ridge openingAny profile roof — universal fit Continuous passive stack-effect exhaust
Monitor Type Airflow Ridge VentRaised monitor with louvred sidesWide-span factories, large industrial sheds Enhanced cross-ventilation via raised monitor
Onion Type Airflow Ridge VentCurved onion dome profile Industrial buildings, factory roofs Passive self-regulating ventilation
Apex Type Airflow Ridge VentApex ridge line profile Factory buildings, industrial roofs Efficient ridge-line airflow exhaust

Universal Fit

Hat Top Airflow Ridge Vent

Fits any roof profile without modification. The hat-shaped cap sits over the ridge opening, protecting against rain ingress while allowing continuous hot-air exhaust along the full ridge length.

Durable, low-maintenance and suitable for all Indian industrial climatic conditions.

No moving parts — zero maintenance passive ventilation

Full ridge-length installation for maximum airflow rate

Rain-protected cap design prevents weather ingress

Corrosion-resistant fabrication for long service life

Large Span Preferred

Monitor Type Airflow Ridge Vent

A raised monitor structure sits above the main roof level with louvred sides — allowing cross-ventilation through the elevated monitor zone in addition to ridge-level exhaust.

Preferred for wide-span factory buildings where standard ridge profiles cannot achieve the required air change rate.

Elevated monitor creates enhanced pressure differential for higher airflow rates

Louvred sides allow multi-directional airflow — independent of wind direction

Ideal for industrial buildings with 20m+ span between frames

Maintains optimal ventilation conditions for workers and equipment below

Durable and well-ventilated structure with long-term performance

Self-Regulating

Onion Type Airflow Ridge Vent

The distinctive curved onion dome profile naturally channels warm air upward through the vent opening regardless of wind direction.

Self-regulating passive ventilation ensures consistent airflow in both calm and windy conditions — making it a reliable choice for industrial buildings in variable climate zones.

Curved dome profile works effectively in all wind directions

Self-regulating — automatically adjusts airflow with weather conditions

Efficient ventilation for industrial buildings and factory roofs

No electrical power or mechanical components required

Ridge vent systems optimise airflow and enhance building durability

Factory Buildings

Apex Type Airflow Ridge Vent

The Apex ridge vent provides efficient continuous ventilation along the full ridge line of factory and industrial building roofs.

Its apex-line profile integrates cleanly with standard industrial roofing systems, delivering consistent exhaust airflow that reduces internal heat build-up and maintains comfortable working conditions.

Designed specifically for factory building roof ridge applications

Ensures optimal airflow along the full ridge-line length

Clean integration with standard industrial roofing profiles

Reduces internal temperatures and improves worker comfort

Low-profile aesthetic that blends with the building roofline

Why Install a Roof Ventilation
Ridge Vent System?

Over 90% of fire-related fatalities are caused by smoke inhalation — not the fire itself. Smoke vents are not optional safety features — they are life-safety infrastructure that must function reliably at the moment of greatest need.

Geometric Steels smoke vents are engineered for precision, durability and guaranteed operation during emergencies

When a fire breaks out, smoke vents automatically open — allowing toxic smoke, hot gases and reduced-oxygen air to escape rapidly, keeping evacuation routes clear and improving visibility for both building occupants and responding firefighters.

The same vents also function as everyday natural ventilation units during normal building operation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Geometric Steels manufactures four types of industrial roof ventilation ridge vents: Hat Top Airflow Ridge Vent — universal fit for any roof profile; Monitor Type Airflow Ridge Vent — raised monitor with louvred sides for enhanced cross-ventilation in wide-span factories; Onion Type Airflow Ridge Vent — curved self-regulating passive ventilation for industrial buildings; and Apex Type Airflow Ridge Vent — efficient ridge-line ventilation for factory roof applications. All types operate on passive stack-effect principles — no electrical power or moving parts required.

ridge vent provides continuous passive ventilation along the roof ridge during normal building operation — exhausting heat, humidity and contaminants via the natural stack effect. It is a fixed open vent with no active opening mechanism. A smoke vent is an emergency life-safety device that remains closed during normal building operation and opens automatically (or manually) only when a fire is detected — rapidly exhausting toxic smoke and hot gases to protect life and assist firefighters. Geometric Steels supplies both systems, which are designed to work together as part of a coordinated roof ventilation and fire safety strategy.

Smoke vents are available with two actuation systems: Electric actuation — operating on electric actuators up to 24V DC, triggered automatically by a smoke sensor or manually via a fire alarm button; and Pneumatic actuation — using cylinders that operate independently of the building electrical supply, providing resilience in power-failure scenarios. Both systems incorporate a mechanical interlock that guarantees vent opening under emergency conditions even in extreme heat or if the primary actuation system fails.

Four metal louver types are available: Industrial/Intake Louvers — high free-area ventilation for factory fresh-air intake; Commercial/Sunshade Aluminium Louvers — powder-coated aluminium for commercial building facades, sunshading and architectural ventilation; Sand Trap Louvers — baffled design for air intake filtration in dusty or desert environments, preventing particulate ingress into air-handling systems and sensitive spaces; Round Edge Louvers — smooth-profile metal louvers for both industrial and commercial general ventilation applications. All types are available in customisable sizes, blade spacings and finishes.

Electric-operated windows activate automatically when a smoke sensor detects fire, or can be manually opened immediately via a fire alarm button — without requiring personnel to physically reach and open each window. By creating rapid air intake paths at wall level, they drive a pressure differential that forces smoke and hot gas upward and out through roof-level smoke vents — significantly accelerating smoke clearance. The windows are available in above-hanging and below-hanging configurations with chain or hydraulic actuators, and glass or polycarbonate panels. In daily operation, they also serve as natural ventilation intake openings — working with ridge vents above to create a continuous cross-ventilation airflow path.
A fully coordinated industrial ventilation and fire safety system uses all three components together: Ridge vents at roof apex provide continuous passive exhaust ventilation during normal operation; Electric windows at wall level provide intake air paths — both for everyday cross-ventilation and as emergency intake during fire events; Smoke vents are the emergency high-capacity exhaust devices at roof level that open automatically on fire detection, working with the open electric windows below to create a rapid, high-volume smoke extraction airflow. Geometric Steels supplies all three components — allowing a coordinated, documented and code-compliant industrial ventilation and fire safety system from a single source.
